You Learn Something New Every Day

Jeffrey the cat

Hola!

Things I learned this week

1. Dog's are meaner in packs
2. Iguanas run frighteningly fast
3.  I'm not a fan of turtle eggs
4.  I miss Jeffrey:(
5.  (Most important)  The gospel is the best thing ever! I already knew this but it gets reinforced every week!😄

Ok ok you might have some questions about some of the things I learned this week so let me explain.

First off this week was great! I'm starting to feel a lot more confident with being a missionary, Spanish, and living in Mexico so that is awesome! I'm starting to feel a lot more like myself!  But that is all thanks to the Lord, I could not do this without him.  Something I love about the gospel is that the Savior is not at the Finish line waiting for us.  He is with us every step of the way, walking with us, weeping with us, and laughing with us.  He is our Savior and Redeemer and I know this with all of my heart.  Jesus is the Christ.

Ok so,  we found a shortcut to our house but we have to walk through an old abandoned soccer field in the middle of the night.  So it's a little sketchy 😬  We've seen some rather strange things in the field so we have now made the call not to use it anymore 😂  But one night we were walking through and a gang of 7 dogs came at us.  Luckily the trick here in Oaxaca is if you act like your about to pick up a rock the dogs get scared and run off.  So everything was all good.

But if I ran into a gang of iguanas not sure what I would do.  I saw one the other day and it ran super fast and then UP like a 10 foot wall.  Also I'm pretty sure some live on the top of our chapel so hopefully the iguanas leave me in peace😳

We were given cooked turtle eggs; not a fan.  I threw up.  Elder Pano said he would eat his at the same times as me but he tricked me and didn't eat it😂😂  I won't share the video because it's gross but I will share some screenshots of Elder Panos shocked face😂😂😂

Jeffrey is a cat that Elder Pano and I found on our way home.  He listened to commands in Spanish and followed us for like 15 minutes.  We haven't seen him since though and Elder Pano and I are very sad about it.😪😂

I love you all and hope you are doing so well! Being a missionary is the best and I am so grateful to be here!!

Happiest Day!

Hello Everyone!!  This week was absolutely incredible and I had such incredible experiences so I hope I can describe them accurately!

First thing first, I'm not getting transferred!!  Elder Pano and I will be together still for at least 6 more weeks😎  I'm so so excited for that because he's a stud and it's fun to teach together!!

Second, I got news of a baptism in my first area.  It was the rest of the Part Member family I worked with a ton in my first area!!!  I love this family so so much and when I heard that they were getting baptized I can't even explain how happy I was!  I got permission to watch the baptism via zoom and wow I have never felt so much love and joy!  To see how much they have grown and to see how much the gospel changed their lives truly changed my heart.  I feel like I was shown a small portion of the infinite love God has for all of us.  I have felt so different ever since and have such a greater desire to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I know Christ lives and that his love for us is greater than we can possibly imagine.

A quote I absolutely love from Elder Holland is
"My beloved brothers and sisters, I am not certain just what our experience will be on Judgment Day, but I will be very surprised if at some point in that conversation, God does not ask us exactly what Christ asked Peter: “Did you love me?” I think He will want to know if in our very mortal, very inadequate, and sometimes childish grasp of things, did we at least understand one commandment, the first and greatest commandment of them all—“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind.”  And if at such a moment we can stammer out, “Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee,” then He may remind us that the crowning characteristic of love is always loyalty."

I absolutely love this quote!  I would like to invite you all today to start living your life so you can stand before God on the Last Day and say with all the confidence of your heart.  “Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee,”  If you're living your life like this please continue to do so, if you´re not I plead with you to come to the path.

Also funny story,  so we receive this food called Caldo a lot here, it's really good but we get it almost everyday so Elder Pano and I joke about it.  The Elders we share a capilla (chapel) with almost never have it.  BUT we had exchanges this week and I went with the other Elders, for lunch we received caldo and Elder Pano and the elder he was with got CHICKEN QUESADILLAS so I think wherever I go caldo follows.

I love you all!

Bolígrafos y Dulces

"The Super sweet drink thing"

Zone!

HOLA TODOS.

I hope you are all doing so well! This week was so great!  Last P-day we had a Zone Activity and played games which was a ton of fun! I KINDA ROLLED MY Rs TODAY BUT NOW I CANT DO IT AGAIN SO ILL KEEP YOU UPDATED! 😂

Elder Pano and I want to get better about writing in our journals so we bought fancy pens(Bolígrafos) to motivate us and we are very proud of our fancy pens.  We are very excited whenever we get an opportunity to use our new pens😂

We found this place that sells this shaved ice stuff with a ton of ice cream on it and tons of other sweet stuff and it was super good but it was easily one of the sweetest things I've ever had and I about died.  Speaking of dying from food we had exchanges with the APs which was a ton of fun but to celebrate we bought tacos.  We ordered 20 tacos for the both of us but there was a special deal of 2x1 so they gave us 40 TACOS.  I about died and was not feeling the best the next couple of days😂  But luckily I'm much better today.

We find out if we get transferred this Sunday and I feel like I'm going to get transferred because Elder Pano and I are unstoppable together so its next fair for the rest of the missionaries😉😂  I'm just kidding but Elder Pano is so awesome and I do think I'll be transferred:(

My English Fast is going well and my Spanish is getting a lot better!  I can pretty much read most things without needing the translation which is super nice! It's a lot of fun reading the scripture in Spanish!  Speaking of the scriptures,  they're the best!!!  Every time I read them and pray about them I learn something new!  I would like to invite all of you to read the scriptures and know they were written for you!  Also remember you are literally a Child of a Loving Heavenly Father who wants what's best for you!  I'm so grateful for this sweet knowledge and for the opportunity to share the gospel of our Savior❤

Helder Leisy

More rain!
He eats fish now!

Hi there!

You might be wondering what Helder Leisy means so let me tell you.  People here in Oaxaca don't know how to spell my name so whenever they write how they think to spell it I love it so much! Today I told them my name and they wrote down on the ticket Helder Leisy intrested of Elder Lacey and to be honest with you I might make a switch to Leisy I kinda like it😂

This week was great!  I absolutely love being a missionary with all my heart!  The city I'm in has a lot of covid right now so we can go in the streets anymore BUT that didn't stop Elder Pano and I😤  We had some awesome online lessons this week and I can see my Spanish improving which is such a blessing!!  My English fast is hard sometimes but its it's really helping my Spanish! I did exchanges with an Elder this week and he's American so I was with 3 Americans all day so I heard a lot of English.  Once we started talking to someone in Spanish it felt so weird because I missed hearing Spanish!  Kinda crazy but Spanish is so fun and I love it so much!!

I love you all so much!  Remember you have a loving Father in Heaven who cares about the details of your life!!
