Quarantine Day 231

Couch made from extra mattresses and pillows

Hello Friends, Elder Lacey here.  Elder Chávez and I are going crazy because we are Quarantine.  Rations are few, we will see how long we make it.  It seems like an eternity.😵‍💫

Nah just kidding we've only been on Quarantine for like 12 hours 😂  Elder Chávez has some Covid symptoms so to play it safe we are going to be on Quarantine for a few days.  I feeling completely fine though so I think I'm immune😎

We do want to get out of Quarantine fast though because we have a ton of plans this week including 2 baptisms!  This last week was so great!  Elder Chávez and I have been working a ton and we are seeing the fruits of the work!  For example I think we invited over 15 people to sacrament meeting throughout the week and many of those people didn't come but I believe the Lord blessed our efforts and a few members brought their friends to church!  We had 11 people that we are teaching come to church and it was so amazing!  I love this ward so much!  When members and missionaries work together the work goes so much better!

This was such a great week!  We were able to extend a few baptismal dates and we have been trying to do a lot of exchanges this transfer with the missionaries of our zone.  I have absolutely loved doing exchanges!  There are a lot of missionaries in training in out zone and it is so nice to help out missionaries who have similar feelings that I had when I first got here.  I absolutely love the mission!

Today we got planned clean the house deeply, read a lot of scriptures, play some games and also make a pillow fort😎

We like our house a lot but we realized that if it had a sofa it would be perfect,  so we used some extra mattress and blankets and pillows that we have and we made a pretty comfy sofa not gonna lie.

Today I would like to Invite you to study tbe gospel and doctrine of Jesus Christ.  It is perfect!  The gospel of Jesus Christ consists of 5 main things.  Faith in Jesus Christ, Repentance through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, Baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the End.  Living these 5 principles will bring power and light into our lives!  It will give us the strength we need to do what we need to do!  It is perfect!  I invite you to study it!  Especially in 2 Nephi 31!  Send me a message and tell me what you liked from your reading.  If I don't get a message I'll know you didn't do it so you better do it😂👀

Monte Alban Part 3

This week was super great!!  I hope it was for everyone else as well!

Some fun things that happened this week was it started raining out of nowhere and we got completely drenched.

We hiked up Monte Alban again this morning and we found a creepy secret tunnel.  😳

We went on a few exchanges that were a lot fun!

A lady and her daughters stopped us in the street and asked to take a picture with us.  Then after that we taught the 3 of them so that worked out well😂

Some older ladies whistled at me so that was interesting to say the least.

Our zone had a lot of baptisms and it was such a miracle to see so many people make covenants with God.  I absolutely love being a missionary!  It is such a blessing to be apart of this great work.

I feel like as missionaries we kinda have a radar to see how people are doing spirituality wise.  You can definitely feel the difference between a family who is praying and reading the scriptures together and one that isn't.  It made me think a lot of this scripture.

41 And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.

I absolutely love that scripture and I know it to be true with all my heart. It does not mean however that we are immune to hard times and heartache.  But it is a promise that we will be blessed in all things.  What a powerful promise!

I also think it is noteworthy how many times the word remember is used in the scriptures and I think that it is very important.  I believe that as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints we have felt that spirit so strongly that we know that it is true.  Missionaries have stood in the baptismal font and helped people change their own lives but I'm sure it changed the missionaries life as well.  But many members including return missionaries forget these moments when they knew with all their hearts.  I invite you to remember those times and to look for more of them.  The adversary wants us to forget those moments so he can make us miserable like himself.  Don't let him.  Remember the spiritual moments and look for new spiritual moments every day.

Love you all!

Feliz

Genaro's baptism

Atoyac-Mitla Zone

Hey everyone!

This week was so great!!  I am absolutely loving this area!  The ward and my companion are amazing!

We have been working hard and I know that is where a lot of the joy we are feeling comes from!

Last week we went to a place where they sell sculptures of black clay and stuff so that was pretty cool!

Saturday was a pretty crazy but awesome day!  They had an event called Missionary Emphasis and all of the youth in Oaxaca that are in the age range to go on a mission came to this event.  Many members who are doctors or dentists volunteered to help all of those youth finish their papers!  Usually filling out your mission papers takes a few weeks but they did it in a day!  Us and a few other missionaries were invited to help organize and show the youth were they needed to go!  It took up about half of the day and we were running around for a few hours but it was so much fun!

Right after that we had to run back to our area because we had a baptism!  Genaro was baptized and it was such a special moment!  I know with all of my heart that the atonement of Jesus Christ is real!

Today we went with some members from the ward on hike.  It was a pretty steep hike but at the end we got to Mounte Alban the ruins I went to a few weeks ago!  So that was really cool!

I absolutely love missionary work!  I know God lives and he supports us and loves us.  Always remember that as Children of God the trials ahead of us are never as strong as the force behind us!
