Tortugas!

Hey everyone!  I'm writing today because we changed pday in our district to today!  We changed it to Wednesday so we could go to this turtle aquarium which was pretty cool!

So we went to that aquarium and it was fun!  President told us to go in normal clothes so it kinda feels weird to be a tourist haha!  It's in this little town called Mazunte and it's cool but kinda weird because there are a ton of hippies here so that's fun😂

Elder Whiting went to the city because he is going to train so I stayed with the other Elders in our district for a few days and that was fun!  There is a recent convert in their area who has a pizza place and IT IS THE BEST PIZZA EVER!  He is from Argentina and he is so cool!

Last night a super drunk guy was walking right next to us and he grabbed my arm and put it on his shoulder and we walked together for a bit😂  he was pretty smooth not going to lie, I was taking notes haha.  To escape from those moments I usually just share part of the gospel with them and then invite them to be baptized and I walk away haha.  They're probably to drunk to remember anything but maybe they will remember when they are sober 🤷‍♂️

I've been trying a lot this week to focus on the Spirit more when I contact people and I have seen so many miracles!  Whenever I feel like I should knock a door I do and they usually let us in!  I truly feel so blessed to be a missionary and share this gospel I love so much!  I know what I share is true!

A bird bit me!

Hola y'all!  I hope you are all doing so well!

This week was good!  We were able to find a lot of new people to teach so that was a miracle!

Another miracle from this week was that we got news that someone from that amazing family we taught in our last area was getting baptized!  I was able to watch over zoom and it was so special the Spirit was so strong!!

I don't know what it is but all the pet birds here in Pochutla are vicious and hate everything and just want to attack.  But one member let us hold their bird and the bird was not happy about it let me tell ya.  If he could speak I am sure here was cussing me out.😂  He also bit me so that wasn't cool he bit Elder Whiting a lot harder though 😳

We were walking one night and an old lady called us handsome so that was nice.  But then she continued to say it and then mentioned that she had never been married so that was a little iffy after that 😳

A new hobby I like is getting my shoes shined.  It's only 25 pesos and my shoes are so shiny so it's a lot of fun😂

We were walking and we just so a giant pig and it just stared at us.  So that was kinda terrifying.

I was thinking a lot this week about the Atonement of Jesus Christ because it was Easter.  We know that Christ died and sacrificed for all of us.  But something I thought about this week is that I am very sure that even if there was only one of us that needed the Atonement if only one of us was imperfect he still wouldn't died for me, or for you.  I am so grateful for my personal Redeemer, Savior, and Friend Jesus Christ!  He lives!

It's raining mangos!

We were talking with a family and then a mango came flying through the roof.  So that was surprising to say the least.😳

It's mango season so lots of mangos are falling, we're going to make some mango juice and mango Popsicles so we're pretty excited for that!

This week was great!  We have some people who are progressing well and we are excited for the future!  President told us that all of the mission is going to start being in areas longer so I think I have awhile more here in Pochutla which I am so excited for!

At first it was tough because it was so difficult from El Tule and it was super hot but now I love the members here in Pochutla and I know there are people here who are ready to hear the restored gospel!

I got the covid booster shot this week and it kinda killed me! I didn't sleep well that night because I had a fever but after that I was good to go!

We had district conference and zone conference and they were both amazing!  It was fun singing in the choir and the spirit was so strong!  I loved all the things I learned and I am so grateful we always have the opportunity to continually improve!

I was thinking a lot this week about the word remember.  I think it is a very powerful word.  In the Book of Mormon we can see an example of this when in the Book of Helaman two brothers, Nephi and Lehi remember the words their father told them.

" 12 And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."

I absolutely love this scripture and I think it can apply to all of us.  We should always remember our Savior and the sacred moments we have had that confirm the truthfulness of His gospel.  I think one of the most powerful tools the adversary has is to try and have us forget the sacred and testimony building experiences we have had.  If you feel like you are in one of these moments where you may feel in a spiritual drought of sorts, I invite you to look back and remember the moments you have had.  I Invite you to remember the times when you knew with certainty that this was the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I promise it will bring you joy and peace.

On the other side of remembrance maybe there are things that you don't want to remember.  I would like to invite you to remember this promise from the Savior.

"42 Behold, he who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more"

I love that promise from the Lord!  Always remembered that you have a personal Savior who loves you!

Hola!

Elder Lacey and Elder Whiting

Watching General Conference

Hey what's up?  I hope you are all doing well!  This is week was pretty crazy so let's get started.

We had transfers on Tuesday so Elder Cortés left and I had to wait in a place called Hualtuco with other missionaries until my new companion got here.  His name is Elder Whiting and he is super cool and from Utah!  Not to mention he's giant and like 6'6 so now no drunk people want to mess with us 😎

All of the members make the joke and are like wait Elder Lacey you used to be the tall one, what happened? HAHAHA

We are in our branch choir and it was a pretty cool miracle because we needed a pianist but no one know how to play the piano but Elder Whiting is amazing at the piano and he was an answer to a lot of prayers to the people in the choir so that was awesome!

I enjoy being in the choir a lot, I don't sing well but I am improving my jokes in Spanish so now they think I'm hilarious so that's fun😂

We also moved houses this week so that took up a large portion of the week!  But we are all moved in now and I love our new house!

I started another 40 day English fast yesterday so that'll be fun!

GENERAL CONFERENCE!!!!

I love General Conference!    This is no doubt in my mind that those men are prophets and apostles of Jesus Christ!  It was also super awesome to hear Elder Ochoa speak because I met him a few weeks ago! I loved the theme of progression and momentum!  Through covenants, daily repentance, and a diligent study of the scriptures will help us stay on the covenant path!  President Nelson also said if we don't nourish

Also something I liked in my personal study is the scripture that wickedness never was happiness.  Which is so true and  something else that I have learned is that we can't be truly obediente without being joyful about it as well!  So always remember to follow the Lord and love to do it!
