The Weeklong Adventures of Elders Chavez and Lacey Continue

Ok so about 8 months ago I was with an Elder named Elder Chávez.  But we were only together for a week which was sad 😔

BUT miracles are real and now Elder Chávez and I are back together again as Zone Leaders!!!  It has been such a great week and I am loving it!

I have had 4 amazing experiences in the past 2 weeks that have strengthened my testimony so much that God knows and loves us!

So there was a family I taught in my first area that was baptized shortly after I left.  Well last week I was invited to go to a family home evening with them and it was so great to talk to them again!  One of the daughters is preparing to go on a mission!

When I was in Salina Cruz, Elder Pano and I taught someone named Jani.  We taught everything but then she had to move far away and she got baptized a few weeks later BUT she is in the new area i'm in so I was able to meet someone else I taught!

Someone I taught in El Tule got baptized this week and El Tule is in my zone!  So I was able to go to the baptism!  It was such a blessing to see everyone there!

I have been wanting to go to the temple for a long time.  We were walking by the temple today and we stopped to take pictures!  The temple was closed for maintenance but the workers let us into the waiting room.  We sat there for a while and enjoyed the quiet peace.  I am certain the Lord knows us and answers are prayers!  I am also certain that the temple is the house of the Lord!

Monte Alban

Hi friends!

This was an absolutely incredible week!  I learned a lot and I am extremely grateful for it!

Today we are going to Monte Alban which I have waited my whole mission to be allowed to go, so I am super excited!  Monte Alban are ancient ruins where the Zapoteco people lived.  I'm writing this before hand but I'll write how it went and send pictures below!

This transfer has been a little rough to be honest.  We haven't had much success and the area has been hard.  But I had a few experiences this week that truly helped me to see things clearly.

We visited a family and their son is a member and he went on a mission.  But no one else in his family are members the church.  They have never been interested.  But now the father has a disease and his partly paralyzed.  He can't walk very well and is usually in a wheelchair.  We invited them to church and the mom wanted to go but the dad said no because he couldn't walk.  We talked to them for awhile and promised we would help them do anything to help them get to church even if we had to carry him.  We also promised them blessing of coming to church.  Then my companion shared a scripture and it truly changed my heart and I felt the spirit so strongly.

This is in Acts chapter 3

1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
   2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God:

I absolutely love this miracle.  Something I think is so important is that he went there daily.  Every day he went to the temple I believe hoping for a miracle.  He went daily every day for who knows how long.  And then one day he was healed in the name of Christ.  How incredibly touching is that?  I don't know why he had to wait that long.  But I do now that God loves that man just like he loves everyone of us.  Please remember that and even if it feels like you've been waiting for your miracle for thousands of days.  Miracles always come to the faithful.

After that scripture we helped the father walk a bit and he finally said yes to coming to church.

We took him to church and we did end up literally carrying him for some parts.  And it was a very spiritual experience for me.  I love this gospel!

Another thing I love about the gospel is the Book of Mormón!  I cannot count how many times I have read a scripture from the book of Mormon who I have shared one with someone else and I felt or they felt so much comfort and it was exactly what we needed to hear!  That is plenty of evidence for me that it is a book that comes from God! But that's just my humble opinion 😌

Side note that is not spiritual but pretty funny is that my pants ripped yesterday 😂😂😂😂

Another side note is that we just finished getting back from monte Alban and we all squeezed in a taxi and my leg lost all circulation and when i got out of the taxi I couldn't feel my leg at all and I was falling and tripping all over the place and it was pretty funny.
Also Monte Alban was super cool!  I obviously made lots of Nephite jokes😎

Zion

Hi yall!!  Hope you all had a great week!!

Last week we went to a place called Arrazola and it is where they make a ton of Alebrijes.  Alebrijes are the colorful little wooden carvings people make and they are so cool!  We talked to a guy for a while about making the alebrijes and it was so cool!  He loved his work so much!

This week we had stake conference and our stake was divided into two so a new stake was created!  It was such a special experience to experience that!  Zion is truly growing and the work of God continues!  How special is that!  A seventy came and his testimony was so powerful!  Something he said that really stuck out to me, he said "I know President Nelson speaks with our Savior face to face."  How cool is that!?

I think I have mentioned this a lot but I love that Jesus Christ knows us perfectly.  He knows every happy and sad moment.  Every struggle and triumph and he is there to help us through everything!  He knows us.  I love him!
